The Broughton’s is a great cruising destination in the summer, offering beautiful west coast scenery off the northern part of Vancouver Island. Cruising in the Broughton’s one can feel a little more isolated, as you’re sailing around with fewer boats feeling a little small amongst the huge surrounding wilderness.
Sailors can always find a twist on the traditional pub crawl, meaning that when all the random boats head to the few marina’s for the night, the marina’s turns into defacto pubs. Boaters excited for their little piece of urban experience are super social and each marina does their best to offer their own experience. To my knowledge there use to be four great stops on your boaters “Pub Crawl”, but Shawl Bay Marina was sold in 2016 and I haven’t seen the property reopen. Each marina has a schedule of their events so I recommend planning ahead and organizing your Pub Crawl route.
Here’s my recommendation for a great “Pub Crawl” to three marinas in the Broughton’s:
- Pierre’s at Echo Bay
- General Food Events Planned
- Saturday’s – Pig Roast
- Monday’s – BBQ Prime Rib Roast
- Wednesday’s – Fish and Chips
- Thursday’s – BBQ Prime Rib Roast
- Friday’s – Happy Hour
- Special twist on dock fun range throughout the summer
- Rubber Ducky Race
- Marina Golf Tournament
- Circus Day
- Crazy Hat Day
- General Food Events Planned
- Lagoon Cove
- General Food
- Happy hour prawns
- Ice Cream
- Coffee
- Entertainment
- Lawn games – such as horseshoes, bocce, ladder golf
- Ping Pong Table
- Hiking trails
- An exercise course
- General Food
- Sullivan Bay
- Happy hour at 5pm
- Appy to share and beverage of choice
- Gym
- Happy hour at 5pm
Enjoy your summer cruising in the Broughton’s and do a Pub Crawl, enjoying a Pig Roast and Marina Golf Tournament at Echo Bay, eating prawns and having some fun on their exercise course, then finish your Pub Crawl by testing out the gym and enjoying a happy hour at Sullivan Bay chatting with other boaters!
Enjoy your Pub Crawl boaters style in the Broughton’s!
