A few years back while anchored in Winter Cove off Saturna Island, we decided to take the tender out and venture over to Bennett Bay off Mayne Island. Bennett Bay is a lovely afternoon outing, it offers a long sandy beach for endless fun and a nice short trail to Campbell Point. Bennett Bay offers no dock, but the big sandy beach makes it very easy to take a tender ashore.
Bennett Bay is part of the Gulf Island National Park Reserve, with the entire point being part of the park. The trail to Campbell Point is accessible from the far east side of the beach, with a short little leg joining the beach to the trail.
The trail to Campbell Point offers great views of Georgia Strait, Georgeson Island, as well as Saturna Island. The trail is a loop, one side going along the cliff off Bennett Bay and the other going along the middle of the point in the woodlands. The trail is only about 1km, but offers a great opportunity to stretch your legs while enjoying fantastic views!
The next time you’re in the area, pack a picnic and spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach and then stretch your legs with the 1km trail to Campbell Point!
